Heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics, there was no doubt in the minds of Kenyans on who was poised to be the star of the Kenyan team. Faith Kipyegon, had momentum heading into the Olympics games after having a stellar campaign in the Diamond league where she managed to break her 1,500m record.
Being the world champion in both the 1,500m and 5,000m, she was well poised to stake her claim as the Olympic champion in both these events.
However, in Sports, there is always an underdog awaiting to emerge. Beatrice Chebet managed to establish herself as the undisputed Kenyan athlete at the Paris Olympics games by comfortably winning the gold medal in the 5,000m and 10,000m races. In the 5,000m, she managed to edge Faith Kipyegon and take on the gold.
See below how Chebet clinched the 5,000m Olympic title:
She then went ahead to obliterate the competition in the 10,000m final:
These lovely moments make us crown Beatrice Chebet the GOAT 🐐of the Kenyan team in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
