As a big football fan In Kenya, I am delighted by the ground breaking ceremony that was done by President William Ruto at Jamuhuri grounds along Ngong Road, Nairobi to officially launch construction of Talanta Sports City Stadium.
The stadium is expected to have a capacity of 60,000 and unlike traditional stadiums here in Kenya, this one will not have an athletics track around it. I do not have anything against athletics but to be honest, Athletics and football should just have separate grounds.
As you can see in the image below fans will now be brought closer to the action which will definitely enhance the atmosphere during games.
This will be a statement landmark for Kenya especially during night games as the Stadium will also have projecting abilities in the exterior. Refer to the image below:
Generally, Kenya has been lagging behind when it comes to Stadiums that meet international standards. It would be nice if we can get more projects coming along in other sports as well. Sports like Swimming, Basketball, Rugby , among others, also deserve international standard stadiums.
I look forward to the first game to be held at Talanta Sports City Stadium.
